Job Title: Director of Strategic Hiring Location: San Antonio, TX Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Overview: The Director of Strategic Hiring will lead the enterprise strategic hiring function and help ensure the organization has the talent required to support current and future business objectives. This role will partner closely with business leaders across the organization to identify future talent needs, assess workforce risks, develop proactive hiring strategies, and build sustainable talent pipelines for managerial, director-level, and other mission-critical positions. This position will lead a team focused on strategic hiring, workforce planning, talent pipeline development, labor market intelligence, and strategic sourcing initiatives. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and help translate workforce forecasts, business priorities, and growth plans into actionable talent strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the strategic hiring function.
• Lead and develop a team responsible for strategic hiring initiatives and talent pipeline development.
• Partner with Engineering, Project Leadership, Services, Project Controls, Supply Chain, and other business leaders to identify current and future workforce needs.
• Translate business forecasts, growth projections, and workforce plans into proactive hiring strategies.
• Develop and maintain talent pipelines for critical and difficult-to-fill positions.
• Assess workforce risks and identify emerging talent gaps that may impact business objectives.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders regarding talent availability, labor market conditions, workforce trends, and hiring challenges.
• Collaborate with Workforce Planning and Succession Planning leaders to align external hiring strategies with broader workforce objectives.
• Establish and oversee strategic sourcing initiatives focused on attracting highly skilled talent.
• Drive continuous improvement of hiring processes, candidate experience, and recruiting effectiveness.
• Monitor and report workforce and hiring metrics, including talent pipeline health, fill rates, time-to-fill, quality of hire, workforce forecasts, and labor market intelligence.
• Support executive leadership with workforce planning recommendations and data-driven talent insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 10+ years of experience leading teams, programs, projects, strategic business initiatives, workforce planning initiatives, talent acquisition functions, or related business operations.
• Experience within industrial construction, engineering, manufacturing, energy, oil & gas, power generation, EPC, or similar project-based industries.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with executive leadership and senior business stakeholders.
• Experience utilizing metrics, forecasts, and market intelligence to support decision-making.
• Experience leading workforce-related initiatives, strategic planning efforts, talent acquisition programs, operational projects, or workforce forecasting activities.
• Proven ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through execution, including management of milestones, deliverables, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading strategic recruiting, workforce planning, talent acquisition, or talent strategy functions.
• Experience supporting large-scale project-based organizations.
• Experience developing workforce forecasting models and strategic hiring plans.
• Experience using labor market intelligence and talent analytics to inform business strategy.
• PMP, Lean Six Sigma, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar certifications.
• Master's degree preferred.
