Our engineers solve complex challenges at grocery scale while balancing customer needs, business goals, reliability and continuous experimentation to deliver better experiences with every search.Location: Austin (On-Site)Qualifications & Key Requirements:Work Experience:10+ years of professional software development experienceExperience building and evolving search, retrieval, ranking and recommendation capabilities that help customers discover products more effectively, leveraging AI-driven experiences to deliver relevant, personalized results at scale.Strong experience developing backend services with JavaExperience building APIs and microservices using TypeScript and Node.jsExperience designing and supporting GraphQL APIsExperience building cloud-native applications in AWSExperience with infrastructure as code, preferably TerraformExperience with search technologies such as OpenSearch or ElasticsearchExperience working with NoSQL databases, including DynamoDBExperience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms such as Kafka or KinesisStrong understanding of software design, system architecture and distributed systemsExperience working in Agile environments and modern CI/CD practicesFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools and integrating AI assistants into the software development lifecycleKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Expert in multiple programming languages, technologies, and frameworksExpert knowledge in system and data architecture, data modeling, and design and capable of architecting and designing at the application or service level using well-accepted design patternsAbility to review platform designs for strength of engineering solutions, namely performance, sustainability, and iterative development potentialExpert knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns, system architecture and design patternsExpert understanding of the full SDLC and frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)Approaches problem-solving holistically and considers solutions through a combination of technology and processIdentifies best approach to improve technical solutions to complex problems and effectively proposes paths forward to drive outcomesCapable of leading large initiatives with multiple engineers including design, architecture, and delivery of multiple complex features across multiple systems / servicesEducation:A Computer Science degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experiencePhysical Demands & Working Conditions:Travel by car or plane with overnight staysWork extended hours; sit for extended periodsWork rotating and on-call schedules, as needed
