Job Description Graduate Residential Coordinator Position Overview: The Graduate Residential Coordinator supports the Assistant Director in the operation of a residential area on campus. A Graduate Residential Coordinator (GRC) co-supervises Resident Assistants (RAs) while supporting the Office of Residential Education in all campus-wide projects, such as Housing Selection, Student Staff Selection, Student Staff Training, and other projects as assigned. Supporting those projects includes participation in departmental committees such as Development, Training, and Recognition (including RA Training), Housing Operations (including Health and Safety Inspections), or Staff Selection. Graduate Residential Coordinators serve as a resource and support related to academic, personal, and social concerns while also providing ongoing feedback to their direct supervisees to aid in their professional and personal development.
GRCs serve as graduate assistants in the Division of Campus Life and participate in campus-wide events, planning, and programming. In doing so, GRCs should be available for evening and weekend responsibilities, including but not limited to Staff Development, Weekend Programming, Divisional Requirements, and campus-wide programs. Additionally, the Graduate Residential Coordinators maintain responsibility in many functions of housing and residential life, including, but not limited to, programming, duty and crisis response,(serving as a mandated reporter for violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Title IX), student conduct (serving as a Level 1 hearing officer for alleged violations), student development, and facilities management. Throughout the year, GRCs will represent the department at various Wagner College events, including but not limited to: Wagner Weekend (Homecoming), Songfest, WagnerStock, and Commencement. The Graduate Residential Coordinator is supervised by the Assistant Director of Residential Education.

Graduate Residential Coordinators are not permitted to have employment outside of their position without approval from the Director of Residential Education. Any outside position that is approved may not exceed 15 hours of outside commitments. Graduate Residential Coordinators must maintain a 3.0 GPA and must be enrolled in a full-time graduate program at Wagner College.
Summer employment opportunities are available throughout the Wagner College campus. If interested in summer employment, Graduate Residential Coordinators must apply for these positions separately. The Office of Residential Education may or may not have positions available, but encourages GRCs to communicate their needs in advance. Main Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain 29 weekly office hours (evening hours for meetings and programs included) and report to direct supervisor(s). Office hours should be scheduled Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, unless otherwise noted.
- Manage an assigned residential facility of undergraduate and/or graduate students ranging from 125 to 800 students.
- Manage an assigned departmental function; First Year Experience, Staff Development, Programming & Community Development, or Operations
- Co-supervise a Resident Assistant staff ranging from 4-19 paraprofessionals on community development planning, programming, and personal development.
- Take part in campus on-call duty rotation in response to emergency and crisis situations
- Manage building opening and closing procedures
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings, including in-area staff meetings, professional staff meetings, committee meetings, and divisional meetings.
- Participate in Graduate Assistant training for the Division of Campus Life in summer/fall - dates TBD.
- Participate in all Residential Education professional and student staff trainings, in-halls, and department-wide operations (Orientation Leader and Resident Assistant selection, Professional staff selection, housing selection, etc). Support divisional and institution-wide events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by either the Assistant Director or Director
- Area A: First Year Experience - This GRC is meant to focus on all aspects of the First Year Experience on campus and within Harborview Hall. Significant emphasis on the First Forty Programming with the Head Resident Assistant of Staff & Community Development, as well as other collaborations with Student Engagement and Activities, Community Leaders, etc.
- Area B: Housing Operations - The GRC in this role will serve as a member of the Housing Operations Committee and oversee operational tasks while also working closely with the Head Resident Assistant of Operations & Logistics. These tasks include, but are not limited to, opening/closing procedures, health and safety inspections, room condition reports (RCRs), key agreement forms, guest request forms, Office Shifts, Duty Scheduling, and more.
- Area C: Returning Seahawk Programs - This GRC has oversight of Returning Seahawks (RSP) Programming. These programs are geared toward non-first-year or senior students who need a unique level of support while staying engaged in the campus community. They will serve as a member of the Development, Training, & Recognition Committee. They will work closely with the Head Resident Assistant of Staff and Community Development as well.
- Area D: Staff Development and Belonging. The GRC in this role focuses on curating belonging on campus through community-based programs. Additionally, they will work to integrate career and life skill programming with key campus stakeholders in the residential setting. This GRC also coordinates professional development opportunities for the RAs while serving as part of the Development, Training, & Recognition Committee.
- In partnership with the Assistant Director, implement and manage program and community development goals for your assigned area.
- Foster a community based on respect and inclusivity for student staff and residents.
- Promote and maintain an environment of safety and wellness for students, including the appropriate role modeling of professional relationships and interactions.
- Communicate with the Assistant Director, the Director, or the Dean of Campus Life regarding students of concern.
- Remain approachable and visible to residents and staff members.
- Work with student staff to develop community on individual floors and in the halls.
- Supervise and work with each resident assistant in their completion of program requirements each semester.
- Attend student staff programs as scheduled permits.
- Manage program development based on resident needs - collaborate with outside offices such as Student Engagement & Activities, Center for Intercultural Advancement, Spirituality, Athletics, Admissions, Lifelong Learning, and others.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and management of approximately 25 to 35 student employees.
- Serve as a professional role model and support to student staff and senior staff.
- Assist with developing training topics for student staff and senior staff training.
- Keep the Assistant Director informed of student staff dynamics and residents in assigned buildings.
- Work with a Head Resident Assistant to plan a weekly meeting agenda and team builders.
- Assist student staff with building-wide programs.
- Inform student staff of additional opportunities (ie, Resident Assistant conferences) for professional development.
- Attend, participate, and assist with planning of training for professional staff and student staff.
- Communicate regularly and meet monthly with the Assistant Director.
- Communicate regularly and meet weekly with the Director.
- Attend 1-2 semester one-on-one meetings with the Assistant Dean of Campus Life.
- Maintain accurate financial records and up-to-date hall programming budget via documents and the Involve App.
- Understand, communicate, and enforce Wagner College and Residential Education policies and procedures.
- Manage student conduct cases by meeting with students on alleged conduct violations.
- Manage common area inspections, furniture inventory, key inventory, and health and safety room checks.
- Complete timely and accurate mid-semester, end of semester, and end of year reports for the department/division.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Director, or Dean of Campus Life.
- Time of Employment: July 27, 2026, through May 28, 2027
- The position is contingent on acceptance in a full-time Wagner College graduate program.
- Compensation includes:
- Furnished on-campus living space
- Full on-campus dining meal plan
- Free on-campus parking
- 100% graduate tuition remission for 3 courses per term
- Stipend for the academic year of $4000 to be paid on the last business day of each month from August through May, except for December and January
