Key responsibilities of the Pharmacist include:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure legal supply and suitability of medicines prescribed to patients
- Accurately maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files
- Advise patients on medications and address related queries
- Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications
- Offer patient services such as smoking cessation and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
- Supervise pharmacy staff and maintain inventory
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate with healthcare practitioners
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists
Requirements of the Pharmacist include:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
