Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Visual Monitor Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7PM–7AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 14-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving inpatients with co-occurring medical and behavioral health conditions, including confused patients, dementia, and low cognitive ability
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmia data for assigned patients at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Administer chemical restraints and participate in rare physical restraint procedures in accordance with facility policy; all patients are video monitored by on-unit security
• Float as needed to ED psych holds and potentially to Med/Surg floors
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including a Psych MD on unit, behavioral health techs, SWAT RN, RT, and 24/7 pharmacy

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong Med/Surg and Telemetry skills with demonstrated ability to interpret dysrhythmias; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Competency in sterile field technique; must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Willingness to work every 3rd weekend and participate in permanent staff holiday rotation

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience
• Experience working with patients with mental illness, dementia, or low cognitive ability
• Comfort and desire to work with mentally ill patient populations in a medical setting
