Job Title: Histology Associate

Work Location: Tucson, AZ 85755

Expected Duration: 12+ Months Contract

Shift: 1st Shift 6am - 230pm Mon-Fri

 

Job Description

• We are seeking a Histology Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in foundational histotechniques, lab equipment operation, and regulated quality systems and a proven ability to perform accurate tissue processing and staining while supporting safety and continuous improvement goals.

 

Responsibilities:

• Perform foundational histotechniques including embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing, and primary staining.
• Operate laboratory and manufacturing equipment in accordance with SOPs and detailed work instructions.
• Monitor and prepare bulk reagents, and assist with preparation for moderately complex techniques under direction.
• Maintain Right to Operate by following all safety practices, reporting hazards, incidents, and near misses in a timely manner.
• Work within regulated quality systems (OSHA, FDA, NMPA, ISO, GMP) and complete accurate documentation of all transactions and production instructions.
• Recognize and escalate minor issues related to raw materials, equipment, or lab safety.
• Conduct 6S activities, maintain daily records, and support process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners to meet targets and suggest improvements to processes and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of directly related histology experience with embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing, and primary staining.
• Experience operating laboratory or manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and follow operating procedures in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing and laboratory techniques.
• Proficiency with SAP and basic productivity tools, including word processing and email.
• Experience with Lean or continuous improvement and 6S practices.
• Strong organization, planning, attention to detail, and time management to handle multiple tasks.
• Effective written and verbal communication with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a high-volume setting with accuracy and agility.
• Ability to use precision tools and technology associated with the industry.
• Prompt, regular, and reliable onsite attendance for 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), including weekends, holidays, and during emergency conditions as required.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Sheets, Docs).

 

Physical Requirements & PPE

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, and crouch for a combined 4+ hours per day.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds with repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.
• Good near visual acuity to perform activities within assigned processes.
