Senior IT Project Manager (GIS Transformation)

Summary:

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead a large-scale GIS transformation initiative within a complex enterprise environment. This role will be responsible for managing project delivery across multiple workstreams, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving execution through both planning and implementation phases.

The ideal candidate brings strong project management expertise, experience leading enterprise technology initiatives, and a proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, risks, executive communications, and stakeholder alignment. Experience supporting GIS modernization efforts, particularly involving ESRI technologies, is highly desirable.

Length: 12-month contract

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead the full project lifecycle from project initiation through implementation and delivery
• Manage complex technology initiatives spanning multiple teams and workstreams
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and milestone tracking
• Own project governance, RAID logs, executive reporting, and stakeholder communications
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including business, technology, and leadership stakeholders
• Facilitate project planning, execution, risk mitigation, and issue resolution
• Drive change management activities and ensure alignment across impacted groups
• Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
• Prepare executive presentations, status reports, and project documentation
• Support enterprise GIS modernization and technology transformation efforts
• Operate independently while providing strong delivery leadership in a highly visible environment

Required Qualifications

• Senior-level IT Project Management experience
• Proven experience managing enterprise technology initiatives from initiation through implementation
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, financials, risks, and dependencies
• Experience maintaining RAID logs and project governance processes
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, and Word
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience leading cross-functional technical and business teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment

Desired Qualifications

• Utility industry experience
• GIS project experience
• Experience supporting GIS modernization or transformation initiatives
• Experience with ESRI technologies, including Utility Network (UN)
• Experience inheriting projects already in execution and successfully driving delivery
• Experience within large enterprise organizations
• PMP certification preferred
• Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery experience preferred
• Experience presenting to executive leadership and steering committees
