About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of eCommerce Engineering to lead the architectural and technical evolution of its global eCommerce platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for modernizing legacy systems into AI-enabled solutions, overseeing various eCommerce functions at a global scale, and driving cloud and database modernization strategies. This role is pivotal in providing hands-on architectural guidance, influencing AI adoption, and enhancing engineering capabilities across the teams. The Head of eCommerce Engineering will also be expected to partner with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional leaders to improve scalability, reliability, and engineering practices, while challenging and redefining legacy approaches. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12 years' of experience, with a strong background in large-scale eCommerce, payments, platform modernization, and AI-assisted system design. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, with a preference for a Master's degree. The role demands a professional with a proven track record in high-scale consumer platforms, leading legacy-to-modern transformation initiatives, and a deep understanding of Java backend, system architecture, and cloud technologies. Experience in commerce platforms, React, code/architecture reviews, and leading global engineering teams is essential. The candidate should also have a history of influencing technical direction and challenging legacy approaches, with a preference for experience in payments, subscription billing, AI-driven modernization, and cybersecurity/fintech domains.
