Shipping and Receiving Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk ensures accurate, timely, and efficient handling of all incoming and outgoing products. This role manages shipping and receiving activities, maintains inventory accuracy, prepares and labels goods, and supports logistics operations through effective use of ERP systems and freight scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming products, verify quantities and descriptions, and ensure all items meet quality and documentation requirements.
• Label all incoming goods accurately and completely to support traceability and inventory control.
• Prepare outgoing shipments by picking orders, packaging products securely, and confirming accuracy against shipping documents.
• Use an ERP system to process shipping and receiving transactions, update inventory records, and schedule freight.
• Coordinate logistics activities, including scheduling carriers and arranging pick-ups and deliveries as needed.
• Perform order picking based on pick lists or work orders, ensuring correct items and quantities are selected.
• Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, to load, unload, move, and stage products safely and efficiently.
• Maintain organized storage areas and ensure products are stored in the correct locations.
• Support inventory control activities by assisting with cycle counts, stock checks, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
• Follow all safety procedures, warehouse guidelines, and company policies while maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience.
• Hands-on experience with inventory management and inventory control processes.
• Ability to use an ERP system to process transactions and schedule freight.
• Experience with shipping and receiving operations, including order selection and logistics coordination.
• Proficiency in order picking and packaging to prepare accurate and secure shipments.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
• Strong attention to detail for labeling, documentation, and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new, clean facility located in Elgin, designed to support efficient shipping, receiving, and inventory operations. The current opening is on the first shift, typically running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work in a warehouse environment that uses ERP systems, including SAP, as well as material handling equipment such as forklifts, to manage inventory, shipping, and receiving activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
