behavioral, emotional, and mental health challenges.As an Intervention Specialist, you'll provide individualized academic instruction in a supportive classroom environment while helping students build the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills they need to succeed.You'll work closely with students, families, teachers, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement BenefitsLicensed Intervention Specialist — Bachelor's Level: Starting at $46,500 annually, with additional compensation based on experience.Licensed Intervention Specialist — Master's Level: Starting work-life balance and personal well-beingKey ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction & Student EngagementProvide individualized academic instruction in a structured classroom environment.Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans aligned with Ohio Department of Education content standards.Adapt instruction to meet students' individual academic, behavioral, and learning needs.Create a classroom environment that promotes safety, belonging, engagement, and academic growth.Encourage students to develop independence, confidence, problem-solving skills, and a positive approach to learning.IEP Development & Progress MonitoringParticipate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and strategy sheets.Monitor and document student progress toward academic and behavioral goals.Use assessment and progress data to adjust instruction and interventions.Complete IEP progress reports and report card grades accurately and within required timelines.Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure students' educational and therapeutic needs are addressed.Student Support & Social-Emotional DevelopmentPromote age-appropriate social skills, self-care, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.Build positive, supportive relationships with students.Support students in developing coping skills, independence, and appropriate classroom behaviors.Utilize individualized strategies to help students successfully participate in the classroom and school environment.Respond appropriately to behavioral and crisis situations while maintaining student and staff safety.Collaboration & Family CommunicationCommunicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, behavioral health professionals, administrators, and other multidisciplinary team members.Participate in daily debriefings, student meetings, staff meetings, and treatment planning discussions.Share resources, strategies, and best practices with colleagues and other agency programs.Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support positive student outcomes.Documentation & Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete required lesson plans, educational documentation, incident reports, restraint reports, and other required paperwork.Administer educational assessments and testing as appropriate.Maintain accurate student records and documentation.Ensure documentation and instructional practices remain compliant with state and program standards.Participate in required trainings and professional development.Quality & ComplianceEnsure lesson plans and classroom instruction align with applicable Ohio Department of Education standards.Use student data and assessment results to inform instructional decisions.Participate in reviewing and adjusting treatment and IEP plans to maximize student progress.Follow agency policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable state and federal requirements.Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.Work EnvironmentThis position works primarily in a classroom-based educational environment serving students with behavioral, emotional, and mental health challenges.Employees may encounter challenging behaviors, including verbal or physical aggression, and may be exposed to blood, vomit, and other bodily fluids. The Intervention Specialist must be able to remain calm, professional, and focused on student safety during challenging situations.
