Job Summary Performs tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders. Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions. Prepares bidder pre-qualification, bidder lists, bid solicitation, bid analysis, makes commitments and administers purchase orders. Performs expediting activities to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs. The role can start in any Bechtel office location and later mobilize to site. Major Responsibilities Supports the formation and issuance of purchase orders Administers assigned purchase orders Communicates with suppliers as necessary to achieve required service and results from potential and actual suppliers to meet project needs Communicates with Field Engineering to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions for the procurement of materials and equipment and to achieve the understanding needed to process the requisitions Education and Experience Requirements Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a reputed University with 0-2 years of industry experience. Ability to source items of moderate complexity under light supervision. Broad knowledge and related sourcing experience and may participate in negotiations under direction of others. Required Knowledge and Skills Proficiency and experience in the formation and administration of purchase orders Proficiency in all phases of procurement including knowledge of and skill in communicating effectively with suppliers, bidder prequalification, preparation of bidders' lists, compilation of bid requests, knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation, negotiation of contracted terms and conditions, and award of commitments Proficiency in the administration of commitments, monitoring supplier performance, back‑charge procedures and the resolution of claims and disputes Good understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods. Skilled in working with, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups Capable of providing early warning to the Project Management of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
