Radiology Technologist

Position X-Ray Technologist at La Rabida Children’s Hospital, Chicago, IL. Job Summary The X-Ray Technologist will perform general and portable radiography exams, EKGs, and all duties related to the orderly function of the Department of Radiology. Essential Functions Complete and process radiographs Position and transfer patients Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis Select and operate equipment Provide immobilization devices as required Provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards Process diagnostic images Review images for proper positioning, technique, and identification Ensure all exams are completed prior to leaving shift after checking with patient departments Respond to after-hours on-call and STAT X-ray procedures; on call at least 1 weekend per month and 1 weeknight each week plus additional coverage as needed for PTO Operate the department efficiently and effectively under approved hospital and departmental policies and guidelines Follow hospital infection control policies Maintain adequate records Complete logbook, verify requisitions, and coordinate orders Maintain order and cleanliness of the radiology department Transmit images and EKGs for reports and finalize information in the patient EMR Confirm that images with correct orders are sent to PACS for the radiologist Maintain an effective client and interdepartmental relations Interact with patients and families professionally Act as a technical resource for physicians or clinical departments Perform EKGs Conduct EKGs following departmental guidelines Prepare and send EKGs to the University of Chicago Department of Pediatric Cardiology for interpretation Deliver completed EKG interpretations to the physician and appropriate areas (nursing unit or medical records) Maintain technical expertise Attend continuing education workshops Maintain CPR certification Maintain current Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety license Maintain current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate Additional Functions Performs other duties as assigned.
