The Maintenance Aide reporting location is Lake Perris State Recreation Area, 17801 Lake Perris Drive, Perris, CA 92571. This position will work under the immediate supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. All parks listed are managed by a State Park Superintendent V and further organized into the following functions: Visitor Services, Aquatic Services, Maintenance Services, and Administrative Services.

The Maintenance Aide is a temporary employee hired throughout the year. The Maintenance Aide's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to customer service, facility and equipment maintenance, administration, and other related duties. The Maintenance Aide will perform the duties dressed in full State Park uniform and follow the required grooming standards of the department. The uniform will be purchased by the Maintenance Aide and will be in good condition at the start of the workday.

Due to a heavy visitor attendance, the Maintenance Aide position is required to work weekends and holidays. The work shift for the Maintenance Aide is 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with days off set after the Maintenance Aide is hired. Extended early morning and evening shifts may be necessary for operational need. During peak season, this position may be required to work longer than 8 hours per day when requested, but typically no more than 40 hours a week.

This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1 . This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions


Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Outdoor work is common. Typical work involves frequent and prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping. Must occasionally push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds.
