Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar under the direction of Dr. Derek Hall. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation beyond the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. Job Duties Conduct laboratory testing, perform data analysis, and develop the technical content needed to communicate the study findings. Execute corrosion experiments under simulated operating and offline conditions, analyze results from advanced characterization methods such as X-ray computed tomography, interpret corrosion behavior across different treatment conditions, and prepare figures, summaries, presentations, and technical reports. Qualifications and Requirements Ph.D. in corrosion science, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. Experience conducting laboratory‑based experimental research. Strong data analysis and interpretation skills. Experience preparing technical reports, figures, and presentations. Experience with X‑ray CT characterization.
