Urban Adamah is an educational farm and community center in Berkeley, California that integrates the practices of Jewish tradition, mindfulness, sustainable agriculture, and social justice to build loving, just, and sustainable communities. We provide training programs, educational workshops, and community celebrations for more than 10,000 visitors annually.

About The Role

Seeking part-time kitchen staff on an urban farm and retreat center in Berkeley. This is a dynamic position to nourish guests of multi-day retreats and special events like weddings, b'mitzvahs, and birthday parties. Our kitchen is inclusive, respectful, and low drama with high standards. We work hard to honor the needs of our staff and the needs of our guests, providing thoughtful, healthy, pescatarian food with global influences.

High Level Responsibilities

We're looking for people with some kitchen experience, or a commitment to learning quickly to join our kitchen team. Opportunities to contribute to all aspects of kitchen operations including: food prep, cooking, plating, washing dishes, cleaning, and kitchen shutdown. Perfect for someone looking to work part-time, in school, with another part-time job, or a great opportunity for seasoned hospitality professionals looking to work in a fun, friendly, kind, and challenging environment.

Qualifications

• Valid California Serv Safe Certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety.
• Growth oriented mindset, willingness to learn and receive feedback in the moment.
• Curiosity about food and willingness to learn.
• Punctual, responsible, kind.

• Standing for long periods of time while cooking.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits

$25/hour with opportunities for growth. Supervision: This position is supervised by the Kitchen Manager.
