Description
This is a maintenance mechanic position which supports Water or Wastewater production teams by maintaining all process and pumping equipment in the water or wastewater treatment plants to ensure that Operations teams are able to achieve plant production goals. Carries out routine maintenance of equipment and machinery within Seminole County's water or wastewater production facilities. Documents routine maintenance, diagnoses faults and completes time-critical repairs. All work carried out is either predictive, preventative, emergency maintenance or improvement projects. **Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Possesses a working knowledge of power tools, hand tools, tool usage and tool nomenclature. Perform general and major rebuilds and/or repair of hydraulic equipment and pumps. Ensures all water or wastewater production equipment is maintained and in good working order. Performs reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance within the treatment facilities, to include but not limited to lubrication, inspections, and repair of equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs machinery, chemical feed equipment, and production equipment. Fabricates equipment using arc and gas welding techniques as needed. Observes mechanical & electrical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble. Operates various types of maintenance equipment to perform assigned job tasks. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Maintains standardized work methods, practices, guidelines, and schedules for the proper maintenance and repair of water or wastewater production and support equipment. Assists Plant Maintenance Mechanic II with preventive maintenance and projects. Maintains plant equipment maintenance and inventory documentation. Responds to water or wastewater production system trouble calls 24/7 when on call. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Duties : In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's Commercial License, Class "A", or obtained within 6 months of hire date. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Additional Requirements
General knowledge and practical application experience in plumbing, hydraulics and fabrication for water and wastewater treatment systems is required. A good working knowledge of the OSHA CFR 1910.147 (lockout/tag out) is required. Must be skilled in the use of electrical and mechanical test equipment. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to understand and carry out directions. Must be able to learn new concepts quickly and resolve mechanical technical problems effectively. Ability to learn techniques of water or wastewater treatment process control and production systems maintenance and repair. Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, and blueprints for use in the repair and maintenance of process and production systems. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Department Specific trainings per position may be required.

Health Insurance :Health Insurance is effective the first of the month after completing 30 calendar days of employment. Seminole County offers a Point of Service (POS) plan. Dependent coverage is also available, the cost is split between the employee and employer. This benefit is not extended to part-time employees.
Life Insurance: Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance for employees, equal to one times annual salary. Not extended to part-time employees.
Long-Term Disability: Provides 60% of salary after 6 months of disability. Not extended to part-time employees.
Optional benefits (employee-paid) for full-time employees:
Deferred Compensation Plan (457): Employees may choose to have pre-tax payroll deductions made for deposit into this savings plan up to an IRS-established maximum.
Dental Insurance: A choice of 3 plans is available for employees and dependents at employee expense.
Additional Life Insurance: At employee expense, additional life insurance up to five times annual salary; dependent coverage also available.
Short-Term Disability Insurance: 60% of salary for the first six months of disability at employee expense.
