Duration: 6 Months Contract (possibility of extension)

Location: Onsite: Hampton, VA / Norfolk, VA

Pay rate: Hourly, depending on experience

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of accounting clerical duties involved in maintaining projects and grants records, reimbursements, reconciliations, verifying financial activity, and preparing periodic reports.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains and updates computerized project and grant records.
• Enters invoice information to create project invoice proposals for reimbursements.
• Reviews invoices and payment records for reimbursements; ensures project postings match invoices; prepares support for reimbursements.
• Reconciles expenses and project postings.
• Enters data into projects and grants systems.
• Verifies calculation of project expense information.
• Tracks reimbursements to ensure timely payment and recording.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Basic knowledge of accounting methods and processes as they relate to revenue accounting.
• Practical knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
• Ability to enter data into accounting records accurately.
• Ability to review and consolidate large volumes of data into a logical, consistent format.

Required Software Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications associated with assigned work is essential.
• Basic problem-solving skills related to software applications are expected.
• Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.

Software Applications:

• D365, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or GED certificate. Accounting or bookkeeping courses preferred.
• Experience: One year of experience in accounting clerical work, data entry, or related experience. One year of experience using commercial word processing and spreadsheet software packages.
