Principal Process Engineer, Injection Molding - NMPH - Rice Creek/Fridley, MN (Onsite)

Medtronic Inc

Medtronic seeks a Principal Process Engineer to lead manufacturing development for implantable medical devices in their Neuroscience division. The role focuses on feasibility assessment, process development, and rapid prototyping for next-generation technologies, requiring onsite work four days weekly at the Fridley, Minnesota facility.

Responsibilities

Lead manufacturing feasibility assessments and process development for novel implantable device concepts
Develop and evaluate proof-of-concept methods for implantable assemblies, stimulation leads, and electromechanical components
Drive rapid prototyping and experimentation to assess manufacturability and identify design tradeoffs
Partner with R&D teams to apply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly principles
Establish process characterization strategies, design of experiments, and manufacturing readiness assessments

Requirements

Bachelor's in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Biomedical Engineering with 7+ years experience, or Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
Demonstrated expertise in micro-insert molding, over-molding, and mold tool design
Experience developing, characterizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes for precision products
Proficiency designing and executing process characterization studies and Design of Experiments
Implantable lead manufacturing or implantable medical device manufacturing experience preferred
Experience with precision assembly automation and advanced manufacturing technologies preferred
