Job Summary
Emergency Room Nurse in Tacoma, Washington. This position involves providing high-acuity emergency care in a Level II Trauma Center with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role requires strong ED experience, with a focus on managing diverse patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, sepsis, COVID-19, stroke, and mental health cases. The shifts are scheduled primarily during night hours, supporting a fast-paced clinical environment.

• Location: Tacoma, WA 98405
• Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 1900 to 0700, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; may include every other weekend rotation.
• Start Date: 08/10/2026
• Required Qualifications: One year of strong Emergency Department experience, valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB certifications, and successful completion of traveler competency exam. Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, ED drips and medication administration, procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications is necessary.
• Support on the Unit: ER tech glucose checks, assistance with splinting, occasional charge nurse support, resource/float nurse if staffing permits, security, and pharmacy on call 24/7.
• Charting System/Equipment: Epic electronic medical record, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing system, telemetry monitoring, and no floating requirements.
• Orientation: First day includes badge and Epic training if needed, meeting with educator, and a 12-hour shift with a preceptor.
• Additional Information: The facility is a patient receiving high-acuity cases, with a 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio, potentially extending to 1:5 for low-acuity patients. Holiday coverage includes three of five major holidays.
• Required Experience: 0 years minimum; emphasis on ED clinical skills and certifications.
