Community Development Senior Civil Engineer

Our established Community Development group is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support a range of projects, from commercial pad site and data center developments to large master planned communities and municipal infrastructure improvements projects for various cities and public agency clients.As a Sr. Civil Engineer, you will evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products, and be able to scope projects based on client interactions and standard due diligence. Additionally, you will provide technical oversight and support the Business Center leadership to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members to support their career growth.Our team supports a diverse range of public clients and project types, offering motivated team members opportunities to lead new and meaningful project pursuits.Your OpportunityThe ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in land development and revitalization projects which will support Community Development Leaders as well as project managers from other Stantec disciplines across the western U.S.As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing technical design solutions, including defining project scope, schedule, and budgets; supporting quality management processes; and preparing technic documents. This will include but not be limited to calculations, design solutions, specifications and field work. In this role, you will be part of and lead teams that deliver preliminary engineering, final design and construction drawings, construction support, and close‑out services for site development projects.This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on our local, national, and global communities.Your Key ResponsibilitiesThe Civil Engineer will collaborate closely with the Regional Community Development team to prepare engineering deliverables such as design drawings, quantity calculations and cost estimates, construction specifications, and engineering studies and reports to industry and regulatory agency standards. This role will also support the preparation of documentation required for permit applications to regulatory agencies.Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, and schedule.Support the Project Managers and Team Leaders preparing grading, drainage, wet utility, roadway/highway improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.Prepare and revise documentation for projects from feasibility analysis to construction close out.Participate in constructability review.Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.Act as a resource to developing engineers, EITs, and other technical staff on multiple independent projectsParticipate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.Coordinate with design teams, subconsultants and other project partners to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget.Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager as needed.Collect and analyze data and perform calculations that support civil system design decisions and development process.Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.Utilize three-dimensional technologies and modeling software in development, design and analysis of civil systems.Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.Perform other duties as assigned.Your Capabilities and CredentialsMinimum of 10 years of progressive and collective experience, including task management, project and construction engineering including Community Development experience.Strong problem-solving skills related to the delivery of infrastructure projects.Comprehensive technical understanding of various phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods.Understanding of project scoping, identification of deliverables, tasks, scheduling, resources and levels of effort, and project budgeting.Ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.Experience with technical guidelines, codes and construction standards of key public authorities.Experience with site development projects.Knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong understanding of the functionality of relevant design software, including AutoCAD, Civil3D and Auto-Turn, etc. Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of experience. Registered or eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Idaho.Typical office environment involving computer work and remaining sedentary for extended periods.
