Senior Automation Service Engineer
Guardant Health, Inc.
Guardant Health seeks a Senior Automation Service Engineer to provide technical leadership and laboratory service support across multiple locations. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex automation systems within a sequencing workflow, with mentoring and cross-functional collaboration responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform installations, qualifications, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory automation systems
- Own instrument uptime by resolving service requests and assisting teammates on complex issues
- Lead root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and analyze equipment performance trends
- Mentor Automation Service Engineers and develop standardized SOPs and service documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on lab deployments, relocations, and operational scale-up projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of service engineering or instrumentation support experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Hamilton liquid handlers and laboratory automation systems
- Strong experience with Qiagen QiaSymphony, Agilent TapeStation, Illumina sequencers
- Proficiency with CLIA, GMP, and regulated environment compliance
- Demonstrated experience driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
