Middle School Kitchen Helper
Assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students.
Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals. Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions, and performs other food preparation duties as assigned (45%).
Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines. Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen (25%).
Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens (20%).
Serves prepared food to students (10%).
Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Able to interact with students, building staff, kitchen staff and supervisors in a positive manner.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
