Job Description
Summary:

The CT Technologist is responsible for operating computed tomography (CT) equipment to generate detailed cross-sectional images used in medical diagnosis. This role includes preparing and positioning patients with attention to safety and image precision, selecting appropriate scan protocols, and collaborating with radiologists to ensure diagnostic-quality imaging. The technologist also maintains equipment, documents patient information, follows radiation safety practices, and provides patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform CT scans to capture detailed images of bones, organs, and soft tissues for diagnostic evaluation
Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly for optimal results
Select and adjust technical factors to accurately visualize anatomy and potential abnormalities
Deliver high-quality images to the radiologist for interpretation
Follow established radiation safety guidelines and facility policies to protect patients and staff
Conduct routine equipment checks, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure proper operation
Accurately record patient data, scan settings, and procedural information in the appropriate systems
Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare team members to provide efficient diagnostic services
Adapt to varying equipment types and imaging protocols across different clinical settings
Perform additional duties within the scope of practice as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong analytical thinking, commitment to quality service, and effective interpersonal communication
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Ability to interpret written instructions, follow verbal directions, and use computer systems effectively
Physical ability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the department, and handle equipment weighing 50-100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of staff while maintaining a positive attitude
Fine motor skills and coordination needed to operate imaging equipment and assist with patient positioning
Ability to manage frequent patient interaction while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Capability to work both independently and with minimal supervision when required
Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules and maintain close attention to detail
Adequate visual acuity and communication skills necessary for safe and effective job performance
