Job Title

Surgical First Assistant (RNFA / CSA)

Location

Midlothian, VA

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days with Call Coverage | Onsite | Shift: 6:45am–5:15pm with 6–8 call shifts per 6-week period

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon directly during operative procedures including patient positioning, holding retraction for exposure, tying sutures, and closing the skin
• Set up the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies prior to procedure start time, maintaining strict sterile technique throughout
• Assist with room turnover and restocking of surgical supplies following each procedure
• Work closely with the charge nurse for case assignments and serve as a resource person for a variety of surgical specialties including robotics, spine, orthopedics, laparoscopic, general, GYN, urology, and vascular
• Ensure patient care and safety standards are upheld in accordance with CSA/CFA certification standards throughout all surgical interventions
• Maintain active certification as a surgical assistant and comply with all required facility credentialing processes

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology and an accredited Surgical Assistant program
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assistant
• Active CSA or CFA certification required prior to submission
• Active Virginia (VA) RN or surgical assistant license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Must be proficient across multiple surgical specialties

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with the Da Vinci Robotic surgical system strongly preferred
• Flexible scheduling availability preferred
• Prior experience in a high-volume, multi-specialty OR environment with 10+ suites
