Job Details Assignment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nurse Assignment Specialty: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg) Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week Weekly Hours: 36 Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: 10/12/2026 Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990 Setting: Acute care hospital Patient Population: Adult patients Charting System: Cerner Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs Location: Springfield, Illinois Job Requirements Active Illinois RN license in hand Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in an acute care or hospital setting Current BLS certification Travel nursing experience required Experience with telemetry and remote monitoring Confidence with wound care, drains, IV therapy, and post-surgical nursing care Ability to manage a diverse adult patient population in a fast-paced environment Strong communication, adaptability, critical thinking, and teamwork skills Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care for adult Med/Surg patients with bariatric, plastics, wound, burn, and overflow needs Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and collaborate with rapid response teams as needed Perform and support complex wound care, dressing changes, drain management, ostomy care, and post-operative assessments Administer medications and IV therapies safely, including blood products, heparin, insulin, and PCA support Support respiratory care interventions such as CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen delivery, and tracheostomy care Assist with mobility, patient safety, infection prevention, and patient education to promote recovery and discharge readiness Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated, compassionate care Apply now for this Travel Medical Surgical RN job in Springfield, Illinois, and take the next step in your healthcare career today.
