CLINICAL NURSE I TRANSPORT

Description CLINICAL NURSE I TRANSPORT JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse - Transport/Float Pool is responsible for escorting and providing care and surveillance to inpatients during same day local transport, for the purpose of external scheduled clinic appointments and pre-scheduled admissions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports directly to the Director of Clinical Support Services.
No direct supervision. May provide clinical direction and guidance to LPN's and PCA's. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS Daily collaboration with physicians, patients, visitors, other members of the healthcare team, and external agencies. TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED Operates patient care equipment and computers. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS Regular or continuous risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne diseases requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Occasional stress due to emergency situations or multiple demands. This job description identifies the general nature and level of work to be performed. - Provides high quality nursing care and demonstrates competency for the patient population served.
- Complies with hospital and Nursing policies and procedures, providing direct and indirect patient care.
Participates in activities for continuing education, professional development and performance improvement, and functions with a focus on patient safety and customer service. - Accepts assignments upon arrival for duty.
- Floats to provide patient care on the inpatient units, when not in transport.
- May serve as Charge Nurse or Preceptor if previously demonstrated competency.
- Current licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Maryland.
- Current CPR required.
- PALS required within six months of hire.
- Certification in Pediatric Nursing strongly encouraged.
- S.T.A.B.L.E. training recommended.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA Professional Standards of Practice & Performance
- Ability to effectively prioritize

- Ability to position patients, lift 25 pounds, walk, run, sit, stand, stoop, bend, reach, push, pull, demonstrate manual dexterity, and have visual and auditory ability to do this job.
