Food Service Assistant

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, the employee is expected to assist in the food preparation of the daily breakfast and lunch programs and cook and prepare foods as assigned by the immediate supervisor. The employee is expected to prepare, cook, and help serve a variety of foods in quantity and to assist in the maintenance of a school cafeteria so that students are served attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. The employee will assist in baking, food preparation, setting up serving lines and lunch room, prepare general clean-up tasks, store equipment and food supplies, and supervise student assistants.

High School Graduate or equivalent California Drivers License

Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of the food production process. Must have the ability to handle cash, maintain simple records, read, analyze, and interpret general information; including memos, policies, regulations, and directions. Must possess the physical and sensory abilities to perform assignments. The position requires the ability to lift and carry moderate weighing objects. Must possess the ability to work independently with little direction and work cooperatively with others.
