The Role: The Case Manager and Confidential Advocate provides individual support and assistance to students seeking to overcome obstacles related to their academic goals and/or personal health and well-being. This includes serving as a confidential, trauma informed resource for students impacted by interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, or other forms of violence or harassment. The Case Manager conducts outreach to students experiencing distress and offers advocacy, safety focused guidance, referrals, and information on navigating university and community systems. Case Managers directly affect the vision, mission, and values of Central Washington University by promoting a campus environment that ensures the safety and physical well-being of all students. Behavioral Intervention/Counseling/Case Management:
- Conducts triage assessment of students need to determine appropriate interventions based on the urgency of the reported concerns.
- Provides one-on-one student assistance with resource navigation, short-term crisis support, advocacy, referrals, and information on system-wide operations. This may include resource coordination, problem-solving, and providing help to students impacted by traumatic, disruptive or disturbing life events.
- Serves on weekly Referral & Response rotation, initiating outreach to students identified as needing additional support, including students in significant distress.
- Coordinates follow-up assistance for students and provides short-term, non-clinical supportive counseling as needed in conjunction with the student's support system, healthcare provider(s), and/or other support and resources.
- Refers students to community and private resources as appropriate based on each student's unique circumstances.
- Consults and maintain positive working relationships with campus and community resources to ensure quality referrals.
- Maintains full, accurate, and up-to-date case records.
- Provides daytime crisis resource coordination
- Provide confidential, trauma informed support to students impacted by sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, harassment, or other forms of interpersonal violence. Administrative Consultation and Outreach:
-Collaborates with colleagues in the Health & Wellness unit to recommend and develop protocols, interventions, and programming in response to campus trends.
- Serves on and counsels' behavioral intervention & threat assessment teams upon request and provides expertise in risk assessment and interventions.
- Offers consultation to faculty, staff, parents, health care providers and other stakeholders for the purposes of care coordination
- Advocates for the implementation of process updates and removal of barriers for students seeking assistance.
- Engages in consultation with key campus and community partners around trends and individual student care.
- Prepare statistical reports and departmental surveys as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Experience working with, or substantial knowledge of, mental health issues in college students.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, including oral and written communication.
- Experience or interest in supporting students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability and/or experience fostering a supportive and effective workplace while working with students and/or colleagues to uphold institutional excellence.
- OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Experience as a victim/survivor advocate and/or working in a victim service provider agency.
- National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) Credential or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
- Knowledge of Title IX and Clery guidance and regulations, specifically as they pertain to victim rights and prevention education efforts.
- Knowledge of the unique needs of a student-centered environment.
- Experience in crisis counseling/response.
- Experience and knowledge in behavior intervention and threat assessment strategies.
- Ability to incorporate a variety of perspectives and relevant societal issues into everyday conversations.
- Experience working within an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through various activities.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary : The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $65,000 - $80,000 annually. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the full annual salary range for this position is $64,974 to $94,213. Schedule/Appointment : Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Working Conditions : Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required. Required training for this position includes Washington State Core Advocacy training via WCSAP (if not already obtained).
