About the Role Atlantic Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to join our collaborative team at Morristown Medical Center's inpatient Rehab Unit. The per-diem Physical Therapist Assistant will be responsible for performing physical therapy treatments on patients, administering trauma and disease care programs, monitoring and communicating patient progress, and modifying treatment plans as directed by the managing physical therapist. The role also ensures quality improvement and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary manner. Responsibilities Assist patients with active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs. Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities. Observe patients during treatments, monitor and compile progress and responses, and communicate results to the Physical Therapist. Fit patients for, adjust, and train use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs). Conferring with members of the physical therapy staff and other health team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning and coordinating treatment programs. Facilitate orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and direct and give instructions to Physical Therapy Aides. Perform clerical duties such as inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms. Measure patients' range of motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs as needed to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations. Monitor treatments administered by Physical Therapy Aides. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or equivalent. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Pursuant Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license from New Jersey. Minimum one (1) year of experience as a PTA strongly preferred.
