Step into an impactful contract role supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom setting. This full-time opportunity is based at a single site and offers the chance to make a meaningful difference guiding a manageable caseload of ten students, grades 6-8. These learners are supported through an adapted curriculum, distinct from a setting for severe disabilities, allowing you to tailor instruction so each student can reach their fullest potential.

What we’re looking for:

• Valid Georgia Special Education Teaching license with Special Education Adapted Curriculum certification
• Experience or excitement for working with middle school students
• Expertise or interest in self-contained classroom environments
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Commitment to supporting diverse learning styles and needs
• Comfort with documentation and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a specialized team

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction to middle school students in a self-contained classroom
• Adapt curriculum and instruction to fit each student’s learning profile
• Develop and implement IEPs in coordination with support staff and parents
• Track and report student progress, making timely instructional adjustments
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Communicate regularly with families and collaborate with colleagues
• Participate in school meetings and professional development as required

Additional information:

• Assignment runs from ASAP through the end of the school year
• The on-boarding process will include standard district requirements, with fingerprints required prior to start
