Position Overview

This role involves conducting diagnostic assessments of pulmonary function for patients experiencing respiratory challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct prescribed pulmonary function tests and pulmonary stress evaluations, while monitoring and assessing patient reactions during and after these procedures.
• Document and communicate the results of tests accurately.
• Establish reference ranges for testing and interpret the outcomes, ensuring to identify and rectify any invalid results.
• Prepare, maintain, and calibrate the equipment used for pulmonary function testing, ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked.
• Troubleshoot any equipment issues and report necessary repairs or replacements.
• Provide educational resources and support to patients and their families based on clinical findings.
• Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Education: An Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
• Experience: No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands

• Regularly engage in verbal communication to convey information.
• Consistently stand and walk throughout the workday.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Regularly sit, reach, and perform data entry tasks.
• Utilize vision for tasks requiring close and distant sight, as well as color differentiation.
• Employ the sense of smell to identify odors.
• Use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
• Occasionally lift or move objects weighing 25-50 lbs and assist in patient mobility.
• Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with hands and legs.
• Occasionally drive as part of job duties.
• Rarely engage in crawling or running activities.

Licensure and Certifications

Depending on the state of employment, the following certifications are required:

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Respiratory Care Practitioner certification from the relevant state regulatory body.
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) from the NBRC.

Work Schedule

This position operates on a Day Shift basis within the United States.

Employment Type

This is a regular employee position within the Pulmonary Services department, with a scheduled commitment of 24 hours per week.
