Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling

Overview Navista is an oncology practice alliance that partners with more than 100 providers across 50 sites. The Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling supports patients and providers by ensuring accurate financial clearance, educating patients on financial responsibilities, and identifying financial risk before services are rendered. This role improves reimbursement outcomes, minimizes financial risk, and enhances the patient experience through proactive communication. Key Responsibilities Review daily schedules to identify patients requiring financial clearance. Educate patients on expected financial responsibility, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out‑of‑pocket maximums. Provide clear, compassionate communication regarding treatment costs and payment expectations prior to services. Help patients understand financial obligations before services. Evaluate potential financial risks associated with scheduled services, such as coverage limitations, medical‑necessity concerns, frequency limitations, and out‑of‑network benefits. Proactively identify accounts that may result in patient balance or denied claims and elevate high‑risk accounts to leadership or appropriate teams. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to reduce the risk of claim denials. Support resolution of pre‑service financial issues impacting reimbursement. Identify trends related to financial risk and patient responsibility. Maintain accurate documentation of all financial discussions with patients, ensuring notes are clear, complete, and compliant with organizational standards. Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards. Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to align on patient financial readiness. Communicate effectively to support accurate and timely revenue cycle processes. Provide exceptional customer service with empathy, professionalism, and respect. Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills. Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and teamwork, and support additional duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of experience in a healthcare business office or revenue cycle role. Strong knowledge of insurance, benefits, and patient financial assistance programs. Understanding of oncology treatment pathways and high‑cost oncology drugs, infusion services, and specialty pharmacy billing. Knowledge of diagnosis‑driven financial impact (e.g., metastatic vs. early‑stage treatment cost differences). Experience with billing systems and interpreting EOBs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to navigate multiple systems, including EMR, registration/PMS, VOB, and authentication/financial clearance systems. Critical thinking and adaptability to process and workflow changes. Experience in oncology or specialty care preferred. Working knowledge of ICD‑10, CPT, and HCPCS coding, managed care concepts, and fee structures. Background in financial counseling or patient‑facing financial roles. Compensation & Benefits Anticipated hourly range: $21.00 - $33.00.
