Start dates are determined based on facility needs and credentialing requirements. Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and at least one year of relevant nursing experience. Details Work in the Med/Surg unit of a hospital setting Cares for patients across the lifespan including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations Uses equipment such as PCA machines, kangaroo pumps, and sequential compression devices Performs procedures including central line insertion, chest tube insertion and management, thoracentesis, and paracentesis Uses Epic for charting Night shift schedule from 6:00pm to 6:30am 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts Weekend and holiday shifts required as needed Requirements Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted) BLS certification (American Heart Association) Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience ASN required Epic charting experience required Skilled in IV access (peripheral, central line, PICC, and/or Infusaport), IM and SQ injections Experience with TPN administration, thrombolytic therapy, and blood glucose monitoring Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills Additional Information Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs Deliver bedside shift report and maintain updated patient communication boards for continuity of care Delegate and validate completion of patient care tasks assigned to health care technicians Administer medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and promote positive outcomes Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for consideration RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
