• Setting: Perioperative care in an OR within a critical access facility

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient-family centered perioperative care during intraoperative surgical experience; act as patient advocate and supervise assigned personnel; participate in required education for perioperative practice.
• Protect the patient from injury, ensure correct site/side/level, and manage specimens in accordance with policy; safeguard against retained surgical items.
• Administer medications safely; support hemodynamic and tissue perfusion balance; monitor and maintain organ system stability throughout the perioperative period.
• Communicate patient status clearly to the care team across the continuum; document nursing care accurately and completely; collaborate with multiple disciplines to coordinate care.
• On a regular scheduled rotation, be on call for the Surgery Unit; support staffing needs by float agreements as needed before core staff is floated.
• Maintain required competencies; pursue professional growth through continuing education and participation in relevant professional activities.

Requirements

• Current RN license in Oregon
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (required); BA BSN preferred
• Experience: None required; preferred perioperative circulator experience and related training (e.g., Peri-op 101)
• Ability to work in a perioperative/operating room setting; on-call rotations; adapt to floating to other departments as needed
• Additional: CNOR and CRASE-related training are preferred if the assignment extends beyond six months
