Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance TechnicianSurestaff is hiring a Maintenance Technician position located in Niles, IL. This position will be responsible for performing repairs and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. Surestaff is invested in their team members! Generous referral bonuses are available upon hire.Available shifts:1st Shift: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM2nd Shift 5:30 pm - 3:00 am.Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician Include:Install and maintain cooking, packaging, and bagging equipment (conveyors, kettles, poppers, VFFS, product scales, coding systems & inspection equipment)Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce failuresTroubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing failuresAbility to TIG weld stainless steel and solder copper pipePerform facility repairs up to and including painting, replacing light bulbs, pallet rack repairs, etc.Safely repair electrical systems, including up to high voltage, thermocouples, heating elements, temperature controllers, frequency drives, motor testing, and photo eyes. Ability to run conduit to and from a motor control panelIdentify improvement projects to reduce overall downtime and increase throughputUnderstand drawings and equipment manualsAssess work orders and plan jobsUse lean manufacturing principles to improve communication and problem-solvingUtilize a CMMS system to accurately document work performedProficient use of hand tools.Be an effective communicator with production workers, managers, and fellow techniciansBasic computer skillsKnowledge of GMP's and able to follow all food safety guidelinesPreferred Qualifications of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician:Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical machine repair.Knowledge of GMP's and ability to follow all food safety guidelinesAbility to understand drawings and equipment manualsAbility to use a multimeterBasic understanding of electrical components and the troubleshooting process3+ years of experience in a maintenance roleExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience in food manufacturing.Basic computer skillsAbout SurestaffAt Surestaff, we are dedicated to helping individuals unlock their career potential through meaningful job opportunities.
