Trevino's Auto Mart has been a staple in McAllen for more than 30 years. We're an established dealership with a loyal customer base, excellent lender relationships, and a business that continues to grow. We are hiring a hands-on Service Writer / Reconditioning Specialist to inspect and road test incoming inventory, diagnose issues with a scan tool, handle light repairs, write up customer vehicles, and coordinate the repairs we send to our partner shops, working alongside our Service Manager.  We're looking for someone who is driven, good with people, and takes pride in their work.

• Inspect and road test every incoming vehicle and document its mechanical condition
• Diagnose drivability, emissions, and electrical concerns with a scan tool: codes, freeze frame, fuel trims and readiness monitors
• Perform in-house repairs: brakes, batteries, belts and hoses, sensors, bulbs, filters, minor electrical, minor mechanical and similar work
• Verify every repair: clear codes, run drive cycles, and confirm monitors pass before a vehicle is released
• Write up customer vehicles for goodwill, warranty, and service-contract work; explain findings and the repair plan to the customer
• Determine which repairs go to partner shops, select the vendor, review estimates and test results, and approve work within authorized limits
• Order parts and supplies for in-house repairs
• Perform basic maintenance when needed: oil changes, fluid top-offs, filters, wipers, etc..
• Maintain the reconditioning log and repair records
• Move vehicles to vendors and detailing as needed

• 2+ years in automotive service — lube/general service tech, service writer, or reconditioning — with hands-on repair experience
• Proficient with OBD-II scan tools and reading diagnostic data
• Fluent in spoken English and Spanish; written Spanish a plus
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Clear communicator with customers, vendors, and coworkers; organized and keeps accurate records
• Employment is contingent on successful completion of a motor vehicle record check, criminal background check, and pre-employment drug screen

• ASE certifications a plus
• Own basic hand tools
• Experience writing service
• Experience with emissions diagnosis and drive-cycle verification

• Five-day week, Monday–Saturday rotation, with a set weekday off
• Weekdays 9:30 AM–7:00 PM; Saturdays 9:30 AM–4:30 PM

• $700 per week salary — steady weekly pay, not flat rate
• Monthly performance bonus, typically $500–$700
• Pay review at 90 days
