About the Job

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a locally owned specialty retail business in Olympia, WA, to hire a Sales & Service Professional. This is much more than a traditional retail sales position. It is an opportunity to become an important part of a small, established team known for highly personalized customer service and quality products.

The right person does  not need previous men’s clothing experience. The company is willing to teach clothing, fabrics, fit, measurements, custom orders, and their approach to sales and service. What is most important is finding someone who is mature, dependable, personable, organized, and genuinely enjoys connecting with people.

You’ll work directly with customers to understand what they need, make thoughtful recommendations, and guide them through purchases for professional clothing, weddings, special occasions, travel, and everyday wear. Over time, you’ll learn all aspects of the business and be trusted to independently manage day-to-day store operations when needed.

This is a full-time Evaluation-to-Hire opportunity with a regular Tuesday through Saturday schedule. Compensation starts at $23.00-$25.00/hr depending on experience, plus a meaningful team-based bonus tied to overall store sales rather than individual commissions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers and create a comfortable, attentive, and personalized shopping experience
• Ask thoughtful questions and help customers select clothing based on their needs, preferences, fit, and occasion
• Learn the company’s clothing, brands, fabrics, construction, fit, and custom and ready-to-wear options
• Learn to take measurements, assist with fittings, and coordinate clothing for weddings, professional needs, travel, and special events
• Manage custom orders, special orders, and alterations from the initial sale through final delivery
• Maintain accurate customer information and provide timely follow-up
• Open and close the store and operate the point-of-sale system
• Handle customer payments, cash, merchandise, and orders accurately and responsibly
• Receive and organize inventory, tag and steam garments, maintain displays, and keep the store organized and inviting
• Make occasional local alteration runs
• Assist with store events, community activities, and occasional appointments outside regular business hours
• Contribute to shared store sales and customer service goals

What You Bring:

• A genuine desire to learn
• Retail, sales, clothing, or fashion experience is helpful, but not required
• Ability to connect comfortably and professionally with a wide variety of customers
• Willingness to learn consultative sales skills, make recommendations, and confidently ask for the sale
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional reliability, accountability, and follow-through
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with the ability to recognize what needs to be done and take initiative
• Professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently
• Comfortable learning computer and point-of-sale systems
• Interest in becoming knowledgeable about quality clothing, fit, and personalized customer service
• Ability to stand and walk for much of the workday and lift up to 30 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to make occasional local alteration runs
• Availability Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional Monday, before- or after-hours appointments, and store or community events
• Professional references required
