This temporary position is with NC Dept of Adult Corrections - Special Operations & Intelligence Unit, located at 2020 Yonkers Road, Raleigh NC, Wake County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $21.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws.
This posting is for (2) Program Coordinator I / Telecommunicators for full-time temporary roles that will support telecommunications and daily operations of the Division of Criminal Information Network terminal. Working hours are Monday-Friday from 10a-6p and weekends if needed to fill gaps.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide accurate and timely information that is coherent and effective in assisting other agencies with appropriately classifying offenders to facilitate lawful apprehension and arrest of criminal offenders
- Exercise appropriate knowledge and take action in the areas of a computer monitoring system, criminal network application; and further, the daily operations, and maintenance of multiple platforms; knowledge of all systems software, hardware, and NCDAC OPUS mainframe system for use on a daily basis and for providing customer service and assistance to field staff or other authorized officials
- Serve as a liaison to provide information in time of need for the purpose of public safety and as a primary link with information essential for routine duties and emergency assistance
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Ability to learn the purpose of the program's organization including its mission, services, clients and measures of business effectiveness
- Ability to multitask with multiple information inputs (phone, radio, internet, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public, maintain professional demeanor, and patiently give instructions
- Ability to prioritize calls and requests, ability to solicit information from and relay information to callers and law enforcement officers. and ability to make quick decisions based on information from callers and law enforcement officers
- Comfortable using a variety of computer and communications systems
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
