Job Description
The American Express Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function provides second-line policy, framework, oversight, and control solutions to meet the Company’s legal, regulatory and risk management mandates in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). The GFCC portfolio comprises all aspects of the Company’s first and second-line financial crime risk management (FCRM) activities, including all lines of businesses in the United States and both proprietary and non-proprietary global markets.
Reporting to the Director, GFCC Training, the Training Program Manager will support the development, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the GFCC Training Program. This role partners across the first and second lines of defense to ensure financial crimes training aligns with regulatory expectations, enterprise policies, and business needs while promoting a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness.
Responsibilities
Training Strategy and Governance:
Assist the Training Director with overseeing the GFCC Training Global Standard and help to ensure that all affected teams and colleagues are adequately applying that Standard within their respective workflows.
Manage the planning, preparation, and facilitation of the GFCC Training Program, including managing training analysts and guiding them to successfully execute on all training-related deliverables.
Coordinate, evaluate, and, if needed, deliver instructor-led trainings.
Maintain the annual GFCC Training Plan and Training Inventory.
Establish governance processes supporting the design, approval, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of GFCC training.
Maintain the centralized repository for all GFCC-developed training materials.
Proactively identify and implement improvements to training strategies within the GFCC Training Program.
Maintain day-to-day training operations and come up with solutions to training-related issues, deliverables, and requests.
Serve as a resource for GFCC colleagues and partners by supporting continued learning, providing valuable feedback, and collaborate with various stakeholders to strategize and optimize efficiency solutions.
Help gather materials in support of audit and exam training-related requests.
Ensure training deliverables adhere to legal and regulatory standards and are carried out within the GFCC Training Global Standard framework.
Collaborate and align with GFCC Training team members and enterprise training colleagues on the above responsibilities and other team-driven tasks.
Program Management:
Coordinate the development and delivery of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 financial crimes training in partnership with Learning Design & Governance (LD&G) and GFCC Program teams.
Partner with subject matter experts across AML, Sanctions, ABC, Risk Assessment, Investigations, Transaction Monitoring, and Governance to ensure training content remains current.
Coordinate periodic reviews and updates based on regulatory changes, emerging risks, audit findings, testing results, and policy changes.
Support Board and Senior Management financial crimes training.
Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the primary liaison between GFCC, LD&G, Compliance, business units, and other stakeholders regarding financial crimes training.
Facilitate governance meetings and working groups supporting training initiatives and update GFCC Training leaders on the same.
Build strong relationships across first and second line organizations to ensure alignment on training priorities.
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in Financial Crimes Compliance, Compliance Risk Management, Learning & Development, Governance, or Program Management.
Strong understanding of AML, Sanctions, ABC, and broader Financial Crimes Compliance programs.
Knowledge of criminal typologies associated with financial products and services.
Understanding of AML-related laws and regulations and other guidance.
Experience managing enterprise-wide projects or programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Experience developing executive-level reporting and presentations.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Keen attention to detail, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated leadership abilities, and effective collaboration and communication skills, including working with multiple stakeholders on a single project.
