About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and NRPS preferred Must-Have: IV skills Ventilator management EKG interpretation Description: Start date requires manager interviews. Facility has a total of 25 licensed beds. The Emergency Department does not have a trauma designation, is not a teaching hospital, and does not have stroke or chest pain center designations. The unit typically has 6 beds with an average census of 30-50 patients per day. The facility will accept first-time travelers with a minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department experience in a critical access hospital. Common patient types and diagnoses include motor vehicle accidents, strokes, myocardial infarctions, respiratory diseases, animal/insect bites, broken bones, diabetic ketoacidosis, concussions, and psychiatric issues. Patient ratios are not set and depend on patient acuity. Support is available within the department, including charge nurses and phlebotomy services. The facility does not have a reception or HUC, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, or 24/7 respiratory therapy; however, a hospitalist is available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring and tech services are not available. Technology includes an EMR system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing units. Floating is not required. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, along with holiday expectations. The approval for time off will go through the director. Shift times may vary between 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and the schedule follows a cycle of every 6 weeks. The unit culture is close-knit.
