Substitute Custodian

Seasonal GroundskeeperKeeps the district's school buildings in a state of operating excellence.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs seasonal grounds work (snow, lawns)Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc in the buildingRestocks disposable items and provides supervisor with inventory usage and dataAssists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipmentMaintains building and grounds security in the buildingQualification Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Prior experience in custodial work preferredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine correspondenceAbility to speak effectively with other employees and studentsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100'sAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situationsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the communityAbility to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policiesPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controlsThe employee frequently is required to reach with hands and armsThe employee is occasionally required to sitThe employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forwardThe employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto laddersThe employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and merchandise from trucksOccasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds, such as salt and bulk furnitureThe employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machinesSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusWork Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoorsThe employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipmentThe employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and spraysThe employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraintsThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
