Clinical Training Manager

Emergency Veterinary Care Center

Job Description

Job Description

Clinical Training Manager

WHO WE ARE: Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) is a rapidly growing group of emergency veterinary hospitals with 6 locations across the Midwest. Our mission is to continue to expand into and support communities who need us the most—where pet owners do not have access to 24/7 vet care.

We believe in providing exceptional, around-the-clock care—because emergencies do not just happen between 9-5.

WHAT LIFE IS LIKE AT EVCC: At EVCC, we genuinely care about whoever walks through our door, whether it be a sick pet, their parent, or one of our own team members.

We are a veterinarian-led company that truly values the perspectives and leadership of our DVMs. Started by 36 area general practice veterinarians—the majority of whom remain involved with EVCC today—we are proud of the collaborative environment that exists in all our locations.

Because let's face it; while emergency veterinary care is an exciting and fulfilling field, it is not easy. That is why we take extra special care of our team members through continuing education opportunities, promotion possibilities, and a supportive work environment you can be proud of.

REPORTS TO: Chief Veterinary Officer

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: As a Clinical Training Manager at EVCC, you:

  • are positive and approachable.
  • are a team player
  • have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills
  • are excited about a fast-paced environment
  • possess a desire to learn and grow

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Clinical Training Manager is the primary operator and partner of the clinical training program for Veterinary Assistants, Veterinary Technicians, and Client Service Representatives across a rapidly growing emergency veterinary hospital network.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations and direct collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Veterinary Officer, this highly influential, multi-site role exists to bring structure, consistency, accountability, and scalability to a training system that has historically been decentralized, site-dependent, and inconsistently executed. The Clinical Training Manager designs, implements, and continuously improves a standardized clinical training framework while partnering closely with hospital leadership and senior leadership team to ensure effective execution at the hospital level.

The role is remote based and will have an in-person travel to each of our 6+ hospitals in the portfolio and various locations that host in-person training sessions; expectation for 50-75% travel for in-hospital support

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as lead operator and collaborative partner of the enterprise clinical training program framework
  • Establish, maintain, and grow a standardized training framework across all hospitals
  • Invest in upfront effort to stabilize current hospital-led training programs, initiatives, and design enterprise-level training structure to include:
    • Onboarding & training schedules per role and leveling
    • Skills assessments for new hires and existing clinical team members
    • Core clinical competencies per leveling program and hospital needs
    • Org-wide clinical training initiatives – i.e., handling & restraint, CPR, sedation & anesthesia, radiology
    • Standardized, robust clinical guidelines, continuous education, and facilitation assessments for assigned trainers per hospital
  • Serve as a primary role on all assigned training committees
  • Review, update, and align all clinical SOPs across hospitals
    • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and outdated written practices
    • Maintain a digital central repository for all written clinical SOPs and guidelines
  • Partner with hospital leadership, training coordinators, and trainers to ensure adequate and appropriate facilitation of all clinical training efforts for new hires and existing team members
    • Coordinate and standardize wet labs, hands-on training experiences, and didactic learning sessions
    • Align experiential training with identified skills gaps and established curriculum milestones
  • Partner with hospital leadership on training remedial plans once individual gaps or team-wide gaps are identified
  • Own and maintain various training materials
    • Skills checklists & assessments
    • Competency evaluations – initial training and leveling
    • All written and digital didactic resources
    • Maintain centralized tracking of all CE participation in partnership with hospital leadership and team members
  • Maintain active on-site presence and support to hospital leadership and team members
    • Training launches – to include new hospital openings
    • Early-stage program discovery and stabilization efforts
    • Hospital-specific training needs
    • Continuous training program monitoring and improvements
  • In partnership of Vice President of New Locations, organize and lead a deployed clinical training team to support integration into the organization and streamlined clinical training support

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience in emergency or specialty veterinary medicine
  • Demonstrated experience in:

  • Highly organized, structured, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable balancing strategic design with hands-on execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high stress situations.

  • Healthcare benefits starting on day one of employment!
  • Comprehensive vision and dental plans
  • 401k with 4% company match
  • Short-term and long-term disability and life insurance
  • High technician-to-DVM ratio
  • The latest equipment and technology, so that you can do your job without constraints.
  • Competitive CE allowance. We want to help you grow in your career!

  • Referral rewards. Tell your friends why they should come to work for EVCC, too!
  • Ultimate growth potential
