Certified Surgical Technologist

Provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the surgeon and the circulating Registered Nurse. Efficiently set up surgical cases in multiple specialty disciplines, providing equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference. Demonstrate technical skills related to creating and maintaining a sterile field. Assist other OR staff per patient safety and direct patient care policies. Function as a resource person for newly hired Surgical Technicians and students of visiting Surgical Technology schools. Perform related duties as assigned. Stand and walk most of the time on duty. Lift and push patients on stretchers. Lift and push equipment and instrument sets. Have a good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets, and equipment. Work with contaminated instruments and equipment. Strict adherence to Universal Precautions is required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations is necessary. Work on call shifts may be required.
