Bindery Operator

Prisma is hiring an experienced Bindery Operator to independently set up and operate bindery equipment to produce high-quality finished products. This position requires hands-on experience with cutter, folder, and stitcher setup, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a strong understanding of commercial printing bindery processes. General warehouse, packaging, or unrelated machine operator experience does not replace the commercial printing experience required for this opening.

Key responsibilities include setting up, adjusting, and operating bindery equipment to meet job specifications, independently performing machine setups on cutters, folders, and stitchers to meet job requirements and production standards, reading and interpreting job tickets, layouts, and production specifications, measuring and verifying folds, cuts, page order, alignment, and finished dimensions, inspecting work throughout production to ensure quality standards are met, troubleshooting machine and process issues and making necessary adjustments, maintaining production schedules and meeting deadlines, recording production counts, waste, and completed work, performing routine maintenance and keeping equipment clean and in good working order, following all safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area, communicating production issues, quality concerns, or delays to bindery leadership, and experience with foil stamping, die cutting, and gluing is a plus.

Required skills and experience include a minimum of 35 years of experience as a bindery operator in a commercial printing environment, demonstrated ability to independently set up cutters, folders, and stitchers, strong working knowledge of bindery equipment and finishing processes, ability to read and understand job tickets and production specifications, high attention to detail and commitment to quality, and reliable attendance.

Preferred experience includes experience with high-end finishing, specialty print, or packaging work, mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, and experience working with tight tolerances and premium substrates.
