Position Title: Business Analyst Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Business Systems Analyst II Job Duties Job Summary Performs business process analyses, needs assessments, andpreliminary cost/benefit analyses to align information technology(IT) solutions with business initiatives. Assists in thedevelopment of functional, system, and program specifications. Workfocuses on reporting, workflow automation, and the implementationand support of enterprise technology solutions, includingartificial intelligence (AI) tools for faculty and staff. Undergeneral supervision and performs routine to moderately complexassignments and exercises judgment within established policies,procedures, and guidelines. Job Responsibilities Formulates and defines system scope and objectives throughresearch and fact-finding combined with an understanding ofbusiness processes, reporting needs, and workflowrequirements. Analyzes business and user needs to design, develop, andsupport reports (e.g., Tableau), workflows (e.g., BP Logix,DocFinity), and collaboration solutions that improve access to dataand operational efficiency. Partners with campus departments and stakeholders to identifyopportunities to apply reporting, workflow automation, andAI-enabled tools to support decision-making, instruction, andadministrative processes. Collects, analyzes, and translates requirements into functionalspecifications, ensuring alignment with enterprise data structures,security standards, and institutional goals. Develops, tests, documents, and maintains reports, workflows,integrations, and related solutions across enterprise informationsystems and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams). Provides operational support, troubleshooting, and usertraining for reporting, workflow, and AI-related tools, ensuringreliable and effective use across campus. Assists in evaluating, piloting, and supporting AI technologiesand emerging tools to enhance teaching, learning, andadministrative functions, including documenting best practices andsupporting adoption. Supports system performance, data integrity, and security, andparticipates in process improvement, change management efforts, andprofessional development to maintain current technicalknowledge.
