Shipping and Receiving Clerk

The primary purpose of this position is to efficiently prepare shipments, accept deliveries, and move packages within the facility. The role involves distributing large office equipment such as computer components and furniture, as well as sorting incoming and outgoing mail and packages for distribution, including those related to Help Desk repair or servicing shipments.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and move quantities of computer equipment, furniture, and other office equipment from office to office or building to building using carts and other small moving equipment.
• Distribute and collect office mail, packages, supplies, handouts, storage boxes, and computer hardware.
• Examine outgoing mail for appearance and proper addressing, and seal envelopes by hand or machine.
• Stamp outgoing mail by hand or with a postage meter, and weigh mail to ensure postage is correct.
• Process and maintain records of certified mail, registered mail, express delivery mail, and packages.
• Manage requests via phone, email, or in person for office supplies, mail, overnight delivery, and equipment repair/service requests.
• May fold letters or circulars, insert them in envelopes, stamp, and dispatch them.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in shipping and receiving, mail processing, and/or general office/administrative tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet usage.
• Ability to use discretion when handling confidential mail, co-workers, and customer interactions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Working knowledge of USPS and FedEx procedures and regulations is strongly preferred.
• Experience in processing pharmacy-related tasks such as filling is beneficial.

Work Environment

The work environment typically involves using carts and small moving equipment to transport items across offices or buildings. The role requires flexibility and the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Standard business attire is expected, and the position may involve standing or moving for extended periods.

This is a Contract position based out of Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
