Grounds Maintenance Crew MemberReports To: Grounds Crew ChiefWage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptDuty Days: 260 DaysPay Grade: A02Qualifications:Possess a valid Texas Operator's LicenseAbility to read, write, and speak English (Preferred)Physically able to lift 50 poundsPrimary Purpose:Provide all district grounds and athletic fields with quality grounds care. Provide expertise and guidance regarding upkeep of district grounds and athletic fields as required.Major Duties and Responsibilities:May be assigned to regular grounds crew or athletic grounds crew.Operate power driven grounds maintenance equipment.Must be able to carry grounds maintenance equipment for eight hours.Perform duties as assigned with hand tools for grounds maintenance.Advise Grounds Crew Chief of any hazardous situations they notice while working on school grounds.Remove hazardous objects from grounds while performing their duties, such as broken glass, etc.Equipment Used:Tractor, mower-riding and power, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, and aerator. Light truck or van.Working Conditions:Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises.
