Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive respiratory care and support to a diverse patient population, including adults, pediatrics, and neonates. This position requires a commitment to high-quality patient care and effective teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory treatments for up to 13 patients, adjusting workload based on patient census.
• Administer care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other designated areas.
• Assist with intubations and high-risk deliveries as needed.
• Draw arterial blood gases (ABGs) using EPOC and conduct competency assessments for utilization.
• Manage ventilators and support patients requiring CPAP and BiPAP.
• Participate in the transport of patients when necessary.
• Ensure timely reporting of critical labs and adherence to hand hygiene protocols.

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts, primarily day shifts from 0530 to 1800.
• Every other weekend required.
• No holiday requirements, with optional coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Experience with critical care patients preferred but not mandatory.

Equipment

The Respiratory Therapist will be familiar with a range of equipment, including:

• Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators
• Draeger ventilators for neonatal care
• Philips CPAP and BiPAP machines
• EV300 and V60 ventilators
• Optiflow for high-flow oxygen delivery

Work Environment

The role requires flexibility to assist throughout the hospital and navigate inpatient areas effectively. The team is supportive and welcoming, with a commitment to maintaining a collaborative environment.

Orientation

New hires will undergo a two-day department-specific orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
