Surgical Technician Trainee

Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for a Surgical Technician Trainee to join our Surgical Services team in our Operating Room!

Pay Information:

Internal Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on applicable Rules or Union Contract Terms.

External Hires: This position is paid $23.63 per hour.

Job Summary: Surgical Tech Trainees work under direct supervision, have limited authority to take action outside well-defined routine tasks, and follow specific direction, procedures, and policies that require little to no interpretation. The trainee's primary work at this level work includes learning surgical and hospital policies, practices, and procedures; exposure and training in different surgical specialty areas; and developing core Surgical Technician skills such as maintaining a sterile environment, stopping procedures if there is a break in aseptic technique, and overall responsibility for surgical trays and their components.

Career Ladder: This is a career ladder position requiring incumbents to advance to the fully proficient level of Surgical Technician 1, to maintain employment.

Minimum Qualifications for the position:

• Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: None
• License(s) Required: None
• Certification(s) Required: Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.

Career Ladder Requirements:

• Complete one year at the Trainee level.
• Demonstrates competency with situational awareness preoperatively and intraoperatively.
• Ability to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology; microbiology, pharmacology, and other related medical terminology.
