Position Title: Construction Skills Instructor Pool Posting Number: PT1579 Department: Continuing Education Position Type: Non-Exempt, Part-Time Salary: $45.00 per hour Open Date: 11/12/2025 Status: Open Until Filled Position Summary The Construction Skills Instructor provides classroom instruction, distance learning, and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in construction. Courses cover carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other trades in residential and commercial settings. Key Responsibilities Teach assigned courses at various times and locations. Develop and use diverse teaching methods and materials to meet course outcomes. Evaluate students and maintain a supportive classroom environment. Prepare course syllabi and instructional materials. Manage attendance and grading; submit records to the Continuing Education Department. Participate in program and accreditation processes. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of relevant work experience. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to plan instruction based on approved syllabus and outline. Ability to use diverse teaching styles and methods. Experience with instructional technologies, computers, internet resources, and other media. Preferred Qualifications Teaching or vocational training experience. Knowledge of teaching strategies that enhance student success. Experience teaching college-level online courses or using an LMS such as Blackboard or Canvas. Ability to teach and communicate with students from varied multicultural backgrounds.
